There are lots of upcoming London prayer events taking place in May, giving you a series of great opportunities to be praying for revival and transformation across the capital.
The most high profile one comes from the prayer initiative launched by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, called Thy Kingdom. This is a call to prayer for churches and individuals right across the country in the lead up to Pentecost. Let’s not forget that the first disciples prayed constantly for 10 days in the Upper Room after Jesus’ ascension, and on the 11th day the Holy Spirit was poured out upon them in a totally new and transformational way. They were each filled with the Spirit, they were filled with the boldness, the passion and the language to go and preach the good news about Jesus to everyone in Jerusalem, 3000 people came to faith on that very day, and a revival began that most church historians describe as lasting for the next 300 years.
So prayer changes things, and the lead up to Pentecost seems a great season to pray. There’s lots of resources on how you and your church can pray at www.thykingdom.co.uk. And there’s a word of encouragement below from Archbishop Justin Welby.
There’s a Thy Kingdom prayer event at St Paul’s Cathedral on 14 May. You need to book in for it here. It will be a great night of prayer, featuring the Bishop of London, Tim Hughes and Pete Greig. Do come along if you can.
Also coming up in May there’s an evening prayer meeting with Cindy Jacobs on 07 May, and a day of prayer for the world with Jonathan Oloyede on 14 May. For more info on these visit our events page.
Hope you can make it to some of these. It feels like God is continually stirring more people to pray for revival at the moment. Will you join us and be one of them?
